Moraira is a small touristic town on the Costa Blanca. One of the most beautiful nestling between the mountains and the sea. It is located between Alicante 80 km. to its south and Valencia 108 km. to its north. Barcelona is at 438 km. to the north. It is one of last virgin resorts of the Costa Blanca. 9500 permanent population increases to 30,000 during the summer tourist season. Walking distance from there against this backdrop stands the Cala Andragó. The rocks and depth of its waters are perfect for diving and fishing. After visiting the coastline we can walk along the most typical and picturesque streets of Moraira. We can visit the Church of Our Lady of the Forsaken, dated by XIX century. The Tower of Cap d’Or, the XV1 century, is situated on the highest point of Cap d´Or. On the south-eastern side of Cap d’Or you find the “Cova de la Cendra”, of Upper Paleolithic archaeological period. Moraira´s Castle, XVIII century, is an impressive building overlooking the sea and the beach of l’Ampolla , it did the defensive job until the middle of XIX century. The continuous pirate attacks forced to raise various defensive buildings to protect the coasts.
Good restaurants are a particular feature of the town. In the small streets of Moraira you can enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine. The “rice senyoret”, cooked octopus, fish soup, fish stew. Seafood, prawns, lobsters and mussels as well as exquisite limpets and sea urchins. Meats, legumes and vegetables are the basis for several inspiring dishes such as rice called “Rice in the oven”. Moraira has an Extensive calendar of festivals where you can live and enjoy their traditions. Fiesta patronal is celebrated in Moraira on the 14th of july. 
The famous festival called Moors and Christians in honor of Blessed Christ Moraira celebrates every year in the middle of June. Moraira has always been the fishmen village with its fresh fish market on every Thursday in the port. Next to the fishing port is the Club Nautico Moraira, which is considered one of the best marinas in Valencia.
History of the Costa Blanca goes back to antiquity. Settlement here began in the Upper Palaeolithic from 15,000 to 20,000 before Crist. Obgects found in the cave of Cap d´Or revealed that there has been human presence in Moraira for thousands of years. The Iberians later came to the area and some signes of their culture have been found in Cap d’Or.
